A plane of light marks the situation at the entrance and exit to Boxhagener bridge; the intensity of the traffic is reproduced in a sequence of frequencies using different colours. The colour as a marker is both a measure and sensor for the density of the traffic movements from  inside the city outwards, and the reverse. The height and width of the colour markings [bands of colour?] are based on the structure of the bridge.

LED light technology in the RGM colour mode indicates the current level status by means of changing sequences of light and colour. In the event of "absolute" quiet – a total standstill – the colour yellow extends across the entire width of the bridge. The greater the frequency of the passing cars, the higher the level reading, and the more the colours change. From brilliant yellow to dark blue. Blue indicates maximum traffic. When the traffic decreases, the colour changes from dark blue through turquoise to green, then back to bright yellow.

 

Eine Lichtfläche markiert die Eingangs- und Ausgangssituation der Boxhagener Brücke, die Verkehrsintensität wird in einem Frequenzverlauf verschiedener Farbzustände wiedergegeben. Die Farbe als Signet ist gleichzeitig Messfühler der Dichte der Verkehrsbewegungen. Höhe und Breite der Farbmarkierungen orientieren sich an der baulichen Struktur der Brücke.

LED Lichttechnik übersetzt den Geräuschpegel in wechselnde Licht- und Farbverläufe. Im Fall der "absoluten" Ruhe, des Stillstands überspannt die Farbe Gelb die gesamte Breite der Brücke – je höher die Frequenz der durchfahrenden Autos, je lauter der Pegel desto mehr ändert sich die Farbe. Von leuchtendem Gelb ins dunkle Blau. Blau ist maximaler Verkehr. Nimmt der Verkehr wieder ab geht der Farbwechsel von dunklem Blau über Türkis, dann Grün wieder ins intensive Gelb.
